Mother and Child

This is a more intimate plane, a tighter aperture where the pieces are not trying to distance, nor get close. There is rift between them, polished in time and both are catching the light at the top, bright, in concert with their darker more atrophied forms. There is a great spectrum to the texture and light of their relationship.

These pieces take place within the family setting, and the nodal constructs, and objects of mass which hold us in our position in the great galaxy of humanity. Each work takes place within a ‘plane’ of existence, a context in which these players meet. The stage is set for two characters and their location speaks of the relations between them in the Artists family. The choice of materials and textures, alluding to the nature of the relationships and their effect upon each other. Where attrition becomes smooth, and perfection mirrors the cracked surface of the other, we begin to see our own lives reflected in the poetry and the rendering of the materials, and the placement of the characters.
